Maison de Victor Hugo est le premier musée littéraire du pays, fondé en 1935 pour le cinquantenaire de la mort de Victor Hugo.
Une rénovation muséographique complète est achevée en 2002, pour le bicentenaire de la naissance.
En 1862, 1863 et 1865, pendant son exil comme opposant républicain à Napoléon III, Victor Hugo (1802-1885) passe quelques jours comme touriste à Vianden dans le cadre de ses voyages sur le Rhin Allemand.
En 1871, devenu réfugié politique après la Commune de Paris, il trouve avec plaisir et charme de la petite ville etl'accueil de ses habitants.
Du 8 juin au 22 août, écrivant et dessinant, méditant sur son message humanitaire, il occupe au premier étage de cette maison une chambre avec vue sur l'Our et le château alors en ruine.
Son musée littéraire, le premier en date du pays est fondé en 1935 pour le cinquantenaire de sa mort.
