Suivant les dispositions de l’article 60ter et 60quater du Code de la Sécurité Sociale le rôle principal qui incombe à l’Agence eSanté est d’assurer une meilleure utilisation des informations dans le secteur de la santé et le secteur médico-social afin d’assurer une meilleure prise en charge coordonnée du patient.
Elle est appelée à réaliser ceci à travers la mise en place
- d’une plateforme de partage et d’échange de données dans le domaine de la santé comprenant le Dossier de Soins Partagé (DSP)
- d’un Schéma Directeur des Systèmes d’Information de Santé (SDSI) définissant une stratégie nationale d’interopérabilité des systèmes
- d’informations de santé qui permettra ainsi aux différents systèmes de santé d'interagir sans heurts.
L’interopérabilité dans les services médicaux ou de soins est la capacité de deux ou plusieurs acteurs à échanger et comprendre les informations de santé de la même façon. Elle est donc l’élément clé pour garantir la continuité des soins et assurer que l’information médicale d’un patient soit univoque, cohérente et compréhensible durant tout le processus de la prise en charge du patient.
